My Interests

Traveling is one of my favorite pass times. Ever since I was a child growing up in Trinidad & Tobago my parents would take us cross country to visit family living in the south part of the island, San Fernando or take us north to the capital city of Port of Spain. Where we would visit family and sight see.  On one occasion, my father took us to Icacos. Icacos is only eight miles away from Venezuela.  You could actually see the outskirts of Venezuela. I had no idea Venezuela was so close.  When I took my first airplane trip, I was 12 years old.  It was for a school trip to our sister island, Tobago.  Of the two islands, which by the way, are under one government, Tobago is the tourist attraction spot. My favorite field trip in Tobago was, of course, to the beach.  This beach was located in the borough of Pigeon Point.  In the middle of the ocean, the Pigeon Point beach has two sections, one called Nylon Pool and the other Bocoou Reef. Surprisingly, the pool and the reef were not deep.  We were able to get off the glass bottom boat to snorkel and swim.  The reef was filled with coral and bright colored beautiful marine life.  Nylon Pool, which is right next to the reef, is sky blue with white sand.  Oh...so relaxing!

Then we migrated to the United States.  This expedition, though exciting, was a huge undertaking moving from a small island of only 1,484 square miles (the size of Delaware).  Having lived in the United States now for over 20 years, it is unimaginable to me to stay in one state and not travel to see the other 50 states.  So far, I have been to Florida, Texas, Illinois, New York, Washington, South Carolina, North Carolina, Minosota and Pennsylvania.  Now, I am not the only one that loves to travel, my immediate family does too.  In 1999 and 2001 we drove from Florida to Canada to see Niagara Falls.  Those were amazing trips.  In Canada, we stayed in a small village called St. Lazarre.  The residents spoke French, and the street signs were in French, so it was fun trying to figure out the directions to our destination!  People there were very polite.  We visited in the summer time, so the houses were full of the perfusion of flowers and plants.  My favorites were the petunias, not only for the variety of colors, but also because their aroma just fills the air.  What I remember in Canada is how nice it smelt.  Flowers were planted even along the highways!

My ultimate travel goals for the United States are to go on an Alaskan cruise and visit the Grand Canyon. My international travel goals are to visit Europe, India and Israel. Bon Voyage to many more happy travels!
